Power 25 Girls’ Trip to Cancun, Mexico

It’s hard to believe four weeks ago, I was sunbathing on the beach with twenty-five amazing ladies in Cancun, Mexico. It was an amazing trip, and I am so excited to tell you guys all about it. I was, however, in full-on vacation mode, and ready to takeover Cancun. Power 25 “A Sisterhood Collective” by Aisha Curry was created for women who are interested in developing sisterhoods with other powerful women. That said, here are some highlights and planning tips from my Power 25 girls’ weekend in Riviera Maya, Mexico!

Cancun is one of those places in the world that we can travel to over and over again and still fall in love with it every time. It’s the perfect destination for what you want it to be – girls’ trip, honeymoon, or family vacation. You can relax on the beach while sipping on margarites, adventure out and zipline over the jungles, or do some boozy dancing’ day and night.

We stayed at the TRS Yucatan Hotel, all-inclusive resort, right on the beach, 30 minutes away from Playa del Carmen. This adult-only hotel emits sophistication and luxury, well-suited for a girls’ getaway. It was a beautiful place and staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I’m not exaggerating, we must have said it at least a dozen times.

Tip 1. Get in and get out (of the airport.) – Fly into Cancun on the earliest morning flight possible and arrange transportation in advance to pick you up at the airport. If you won’t need a car while you’re there, it’s often less expensive to arrange a private shuttle to your hotel (and many of the all-inclusive resorts include airport transfers in the price of the room). The objective here is to get through the airport as quickly as possible and get to the beach in time for Happy Hour

Tip 2. Location matters – As a rule of thumb, the closer you are to Cancun the more wild and crazy things will be. Moving south towards Playa del Carmen and then even further South to Tulum and even beyond, things become much more relaxed.

Tip 3. Adults only all-inclusive – The last thing you want on a Girls’ Getaway, whether you have kids or not, is kids around! And that’s all I’m going to say about that. So, opt for adult–only properties.

Our trip mainly consisted of a lot of drinking, and enjoying each other’s company. On Friday, we spent the morning participating in an empowerment workshop followed by teambuilding activities. Of course, you can’t miss what Cancun is most known for their stunning beaches! The waters are crystal clear and bathtub warm, basically all year round.

As you can see, Cancun has so much to offer if you are looking for a unique place to spend a long weekend or even a week with 25 of your favorite friends. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your girlfriends and take the first plane out to Cancun! It’s going to be an unforgettable experience, for sure!
